Mike SterlacciPresident & CEO
Mike Sterlacci is a Yankee transplant dating back to 1960, graduated from UT in 1977. He began my insurance career with Sentry Insurance from ‘79 to ‘92. After that, Mike became an Independent Agent at the “MACSOM” agency as a producer. After quickly ascended to company President in ‘95, Mike changed the company name to Sovereign Insurance Group and added the title of CEO in 1996. In ‘97, he earned his Certified Insurance Counselor (“CIC”) designation. Mike finally settled on the company name CoVerica for his brand of companies in 2012.
Over the years, Mike has served in many advisory capacities. After 10 years with Safeco’s Advisory Council in 2006, Mike served as Safeco’s National Advisory Council President.
Mike is active in his Anglican church and is a certified Marriage Mentor with his wife of 24 years, Heidi. Mike is also active in fundraising activities, and in 2013, he served on the Board of Directors for the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation “IICF.” He also serves on the vestry of Christ Church in Plano, TX.
Chris SterlacciRegional Vice President
Chris Sterlacci is a native Texan and veteran of the United States Air Force. He graduated from Southern Methodist University with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration. The skills that Chris possesses stem from his time in the USAF and working at the CoVerica Insurance Agency. He picked up three core values during his military service which are integrity first, service before self and excellence in all he can do. These core values, along with CoVerica’s mission, helps Chris serve and help others make their dreams a reality.
Here at CoVerica we help both captive and independent agents achieve their insurance goals while keeping to CoVerica’s vision. Our members bring value and improve lives within the insurance industry. We offer growth opportunities to agencies wanting to remain their own owners while still being able to compete with larger agencies. We also help agents make more money doing the same thing they’ve always done, selling insurance. We offer immediate access to many of the largest, most reputable, A-rated insurance carriers in the industry.
Chris is devoted to God, family and his country. He has a tendency to do crazy things like jump out of perfectly working airplanes, skiing double blacks, and bungee jumping. In addition to his professional career, he enjoys restoring old classic cars ranging from 1905 – 1975. He can also be found traveling with different cultures, enjoying their food choices like termites and other non-approved foods by the FDA.
John BaskinRegional Vice President
John Baskin has been in the Life, Annuity and Long-term Care sectors of the insurance industry for over 20 years as an Regional Vice President, Recruiter, and External Wholesaler. He has worked extensively with Primerica, CNO Financial, First Variable Life and most recently Capital One Investing.
Eager to expand his knowledge of insurance and recruiting skills to include Property and Casualty, John joined the CoVerica Agency Alliance in Dallas, Texas on October 2, 2016 as their Regional Vice President. John is tasked with finding agents in the Dallas-Fort Worth area that can leverage the CoVerica Agency Alliance to springboard their agencies to a new level of success.
John is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and Business. In addition, he holds an MBA in Finance and Marketing from SMU’s Cox School of Business, as well as both the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designations.
He resides in Frisco, TX and has two daughters, Ariana (16) and Trina (14).
April GoochAgency Development Field Specialist
April Gooch has been working in the insurance industry since May of 2006 and received her property and casualty insurance license in August 2007. She’s helped local, state, and even national agents ever since. After graduating from Texas A&M University – Commerce with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Marketing in 2007, she’s gained a hands-on sales training and experience at Travelers before coming to CoVerica. Since then, April has been with CoVerica from November 2010 and has had extensive working knowledge as a successful agent selling auto, home, flood, wind, motorcycle, boat, and umbrella insurance. Now she’s bringing that knowledge to the field to help our Alliance Members write more profitable business. Her background with independent agencies and corporate sales allows her to better identify and assist the needs of clients and agencies on a daily basis. April’s goal each and every day is to help build your successful agency and brand.
Understanding the importance of community, April enjoys volunteering with local organizations and her church family on a continuous basis. She heads up our volunteer efforts at CoVerica alongside other agencies from events such as cleanup efforts from the Bastrop Wildfires of 2011 to our annual hours of work at the Dallas National Cemetery.
Lynnette ChastainBusiness Development Specialist
Lynnette Chastain started working for an independent insurance agent in 1993 as a receptionist. In 1997, she earned her Bachelor of Science Business Administration degree from University of Texas – Dallas. Lynnette has held various roles in my tenure – account manager, sales, marketing and operations leader. Her career background has mainly been commercial lines with a strong passion to serve and help others learn. She serves on the golf and all industry day committees for the Independent Insurance Agents of Dallas (IIAD). She’s successfully earned the following designations: Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR) and Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC).
For CoVerica Agency Alliance, Lynnette helps develop our network agents with their commercial lines business. We are a resource for many different services: operations, sales, marketing, mentoring, new and renewal business. She encourages and educates agents so that they are able to operate and manage their agency independently. She is a huge sports fan who really enjoys watching college and professional football games. Hook ‘em Horns! She’s also a jogger and avid participant in 5Ks around the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Katelyn SterlingAdministrative Assistant
Katelyn Sterling is one of our newest additions at the Agency Alliance. She’s a Dallas native who is just now breaking into the insurance industry as part of our initiative to get younger people into the industry. She attended Woodrow Wilson High School and then later El Centro College in Downtown Dallas. Katelyn keeps us all on track as one of our amazing Administrative Assistants as well as running coordination on most of our member events and communications.
Katelyn lives in Dallas, TX with her two dogs, Lily who is a half boarder/lab and Simba, an Ambullneo Mastiff. She’s also got a cat named Noel that some how hasn’t been eaten by Simba. While not at the office, you can find her in the gym power lifting, trying new restaurants in Dallas, and working on her 1969 Plymouth GTX.
Wendy KrebsbachBusiness Development Manager
Wendy Krebsbach has worked in the insurance industry her entire career. She started working for the St. Paul Companies from 1980 until 2005 when they merged with Travelers. She started in the Personal Lines department and through the years worked in their construction department as well as public sector and general commercial, ending up in accounting, discovering my true calling.
Wendy joined CoVerica in 2012, mostly for CoVerica Agency Alliance. She works closely with the Alliance Members and also handles the SIAA monthly report process, commission payments as well as bonus payments. (people are always nice to Wendy) She enjoys making individual relationships with each of the agents and their staff. Her goal is to assist them in any way possible to help them become more efficient and help them grow. Wendy was born and raised in Minnesota and moved to Texas in 1987 to escape Jack Frost. She’s been happily married for 33 years and has both a son and a daughter. Her son was born in Minnesota and lives there today, but her daughter is pure Texan! Wendy and her husband have a Harley Davidson and love riding all over Texas and to motorcycle rallies. She’s strictly a passenger and enjoy sitting on the back and relaxing.
